Tips to Take Advantage of the Back-to-School Energy and Finish 2022 Out Strong

Fall is here, and while your social media feeds are filled with pictures of kids in backpacks returning to school, the energy is permeating everything.

As a coach, fall is always a busy time in my business. I’m convinced it has something to do with the starting of the school year. Even if you don’t have kids going back, fall seems to bring out the “clean slate” mentality in folks, and it’s almost like a mini January reset. People realize they have a few more months to accomplish their goals in the year before they reach the holiday slow-down, and it gets them energized!

So, are you feeling it?

If so, here are a few ideas of how to capture the “back to school” energy and finish out 2022 strong!

  1. Reflect back on your goals
Take some time to think back to January 2022 you. What goals or intentions did you dream up for the year? How are they coming along? This reflection is not a place for judgment, but a place to reassess and check in.

If you’re on track with those goals, great! What do you need to do to finish the year strong?

If your goals are looking like more of a stretch, no worries! Have a reset and consider how priorities have changed. What does feel reasonable for you to accomplish by EOY, knowing everything you know now?

  2. Get yourself a new notebook
I’m not gonna lie…going to pick out my school supplies was probably my favorite part about the back to school process. There’s something about getting a clean notebook and some new pens that signifies a “fresh start”. So, after you’ve set your priorities for the remainder of 2022, grab yourself a blank notebook and get ready to get started. Consider this a mental reset.

  3. Get started now
What can you do right now to get started on your goal?

If you’ve struggled with making a change up until now, I’d encourage you to think about why that is. Is there something you’re missing in order to make the change? The 2 most common things I hear here are accountability and process (both of which coaching can help with, as I talk about here).

Get clear on what you’re missing so that you can put the correct pieces in place to make the change you need. Sign up for the course, reach out to the coach, read the book… Whatever it is you need to do, set yourself up with the tools to make it happen.

So, how does that sound? Does it bring out all of the fall nostalgia for you too, and capture the “starting fresh” mentality?

I’d love to hear from you in the comments if you’re going to try this! And tell me below any other ideas you have as to how to capture the “back to school” energy. It’s a fun time of year.

Don’t forget to sharpen your pencils!
